Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria “Sad” With Jose Mourinho’s Departure to Chelsea

While many players have been using the press to force transfers, Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria has seemingly gone the other way. Speaking of Jose Mourinho’s departure to Chelsea, the Argentinian winger expressed his sadness of losing his manager.

“I felt very sad when I heard the news.

When a coach leaves a club it isn’t nice for anyone.

But he sees his future elsewhere. I wish him all the best. I am grateful to him and I think that he also leaves with a good impression of me.”

Di Maria has been linked to moves away from Madrid throughout the season, and with Mourinho’s return to the London capital now confirmed, many believe the Portuguese tactician will try to lure some of his former players to London with him.

Di Maria, however, confirmed that he is happy where he is at this moment in his career and isn’t particularly seeking a move away from the Spanish giants.

“I’m very happy in Madrid. I have a pleasant life here with my wife and my baby, who was born a month and a half ago.

But the president and the new coach have to decide if I’m in their plans. I would love to stay. I’m happy with my team-mates and with how I’m treated.” (quotes via Sky Sports)

The Argentinians words offer a stark contrast from what several players, notably Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Pepe Reina, have presented the press over the last week. Suarez admitted life in England had become nearly impossible with the press’ involvement in his life. The Uruguayan said it would be hard to turn down a move from Real Madrid if they did come knocking.

Reina, in similar circumstances, claimed that it would be difficult say no to Barcelona if they inquired about his services. With Victor Valdes’ future in Barcelona in doubt, the Catalan giants will certainly be looking for replacements.
